We all know that hard work, sacrifice and commitment to our neighborhoods are the key to making this City great. Bobby's office is focused on protecting our neighborhood values and working to improve our quality of life. It’s clear that in many of the neighborhoods of the 6th District there are those who recognize the values we all hold dear in keeping our neighborhoods livable, and those who have little care for the neighborhood and let their properties fall into states of disrepair.
That is why Bobby has created the Bad Neighbor Initiative to crack down on problem property owners and make sure that they are doing their part to keep their neighborhood safe and to not become a blight on their neighbors. The Councilman looks forward to getting input from the members of the community in the 6th District about properties that are not being properly taken care of, and we will make sure that the appropriate City Agencies act swiftly and sufficiently.
Bill #120179: Authorizing Hearings on the Issue of Negligent Landlords
Authorizing the City Council's Joint Committees on Licenses and Inspections and Public Safety to hold hearings on the issue of negligent landlords, problem rental properties and their effects on the surrounding community and in furtherance of such investigation, authorizing the issuance of subpoenas to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents to the full extent authorized under Section 2-401 of the Home Rule Charter.
This legislation will allow city residents over the age of 65 to take their trash out early. It allows any person over the age of 65 who receives a violation for taking their trash out too early to return the violation with proof of age without penalty. Currently, all residents must take their trash out after 7 PM the day before their trash is picked up. Violations received for taking trash out before 7 PM are contested at the Office of Administrative Review in Center City.
