Councilman Bobby Henon hosted his inaugural Spring Clean event at the Pollock School, 2875 Welsh Rd., on Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 am – 2:00 p.m. In addition to accepting unwanted and sensitive documents to be safely destroyed, the event took in small-to-medium sized electronics, and used cell phones, which were donated to Cell Phones for Solders.
“We had great weather but an even better turnout and took in an impressive amount of documents and electronics,” Henon said. “In all, more than 3 tons of documents were shredded on-site, along with over 40 cell phones and countless electronics, from televisions to computers.”
The event was hosted in partnership with Beneficial Bank Holme Circle Shopping Center, who had a representative on hand, and welcomed hundreds of residents looking to clear clutter from their homes and cars. Henon promoted other upcoming events planned by his office for constituents, including “At the Movies with Bobby” on May 16 at 11:00 am, featuring a screening of Saving Mr. Banks.
Other events are also being planned, including an event to help facilitate the safe, environmentally friendly disposal of prescription drugs. More information on this and other upcoming events will be available on the Councilman’s website, www.bobbyhenon.com, or by visiting his District office at 6730 Torresdale Ave, or calling 215-686-3444.
