Small businesses and CDCs from across the city have asked Bobby to help them save the Storefront Improvement Program (SIP).
Will you sign this petition to join them and show your support?
SIP is an innovative program that provides matching grants to small businesses in our neighborhoods that want to fix up their storefronts with new signs, windows, doors, lighting and other improvements. This program helps small businesses attract more customers and increase sales, which leads to more tax revenue for the City while improving the look of the entire neighborhood, attracting more private investment.
But the program is in danger because of federal rules that now apply to SIP and make it less accessible, more expensive and riskier for businesses to participate in. As a result, some small businesses are deciding not to fix up their stores.
I'm fighting to save SIP by advocating that Philadelphia provide local funds to support the program as part of the City’s FY16 budget now being debated. This would allow us to design a Storefront Improvement Program that works for Philadelphia’s small businesses and neighborhood contractors. -Bobby
