Today, legislation was introduced to formally review and ratify the renewal of a Comcast franchise agreement. The renewal process follows the expiration of the existing franchise agreements throughout the City, and ongoing negotiations between the Nutter Administration and the cable company. The previous pacts ran for 15-years and allotted 5 percent of Comcast's cable-TV revenue to the city. In addition, Comcast supports other public institutions, such as education and government access (PEG) programming.
